Plumber (non-exempt)

 

Primary Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for assembly, installation, repair, and maintaining plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water distribution, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. 

 

 

Essential Functions

  • Review building plans and technical drawings to determine the necessary tools and installation sequence.
  • Assess structures to identify potential obstacles before pipe installation.
  • Create openings in walls, floors, and other structures to accommodate plumbing installations.
  • Using the appropriate tools, measure, mark, and prepare locations for pipe placement, connections, and passage openings.
  • Install valves, pipe fittings, and piping systems using various materials, including metal and non-metal components.
  • Conduct pressure and leak tests using water or air to ensure system integrity.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on plumbing systems as needed.
  • Cut, thread, and assemble pipes using tools such as cutters, torches, and threading machines.
  • Follow work instructions and comply with supervisor directives.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in daily tasks.
  • Adhere to all workplace safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements

This position is classified Full-Time(non-exempt) with some overtime expected.  Basic qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum 5 years work experience as Plumber or similar role with plumbing experience: equipment, tools, machines, or programs to

meet specifications

  • Current valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
  • Perform basic mathematical operations rapidly and quickly
  • Effectively operate necessary plumbing equipment and tools; Provide and properly use basic hand tools as required for tasks

    Successful candidates will also:

    • Be reliable and dependable
    • Show up engaged to complete work and tasks as expected with an attitude of excellence
    • Be flexible, some long days or night shift work may be required
    • Bi-lingual a plus

     

    Preferred Candidates will:

    • Have certification in plumbing or related field
    • Experience with Plumbing systems in commercial/industrial environment

      The compensation range provided is a general guideline.  Varney considers factors such (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. 

      Physical Demands Classification

      Medium – Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects; Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for long periods of time; Visually see (naturally or with correction); Work at heights climbing and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds and manlifts.
