Security / Access Control Technician

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas

Position Summary

Network Cabling Services (NCS) is seeking an experienced Security/Access Control Technician to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security systems for commercial, industrial, and data center environments. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with access control systems, CCTV, intrusion detection, and low-voltage security infrastructure while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer service.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic access control systems.

  • Install and configure card readers, biometric readers, keypads, electronic door hardware, and door controllers.

  • Install, program, and troubleshoot IP and analog CCTV camera systems.

  • Install and service intrusion alarm systems, motion detectors, door contacts, and related security devices.

  • Configure and troubleshoot network-connected security devices.

  • Perform system testing, commissioning, and quality assurance to ensure proper operation.

  • Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and communication issues.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, floor plans, and project documentation.

  • Document installations, service work, and system configurations accurately.

  • Communicate professionally with project managers, customers, and team members.

  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and customer site requirements.

  • Travel to multiple project locations throughout the Houston area and surrounding regions.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience installing and servicing commercial access control and security systems.

  • Experience with:

    • Access control systems

    • Card readers (Proximity, Smart Card, and Biometric)

    • Electronic door hardware and locking devices

    • Door controllers

    • CCTV and IP surveillance camera systems

    • Intrusion alarm systems

    • Low-voltage cabling and terminations

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to travel between project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, or data center environments.

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, switches, and network infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with BICSI, TIA/EIA, and NEC installation standards.

  • Manufacturer certifications (LenelS2, Software House CCURE, Genetec, Avigilon, Axis, Bosch, Honeywell, or similar) are a plus.

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Work from ladders, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts.

  • Bend, kneel, climb, and stand for extended periods.

  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to pass background screening and drug testing when required for customer sites.
