LABORER / RIGGER
McGough is seeking a Laborer / Rigger to support field construction operations with a strong focus on safe material handling, rigging support, site logistics, housekeeping, and general labor duties. This role is responsible for assisting crews with lifting and rigging activities, preparing materials and work areas, supporting equipment movement, and maintaining a clean, safe, and productive job site.
The ideal candidate is safety-minded, dependable, physically capable, and comfortable working in an active construction environment. This position requires strict adherence to McGough safety standards, project-specific requirements, and applicable OSHA, ASME, ANSI, and manufacturer guidelines related to lifting and rigging operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Previous construction labor experience preferred.
- Previous rigging, hoisting, or material handling experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work safely around cranes, forklifts, aerial lifts, heavy equipment, and active construction operations.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials as required by the work.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical work for extended periods.
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime, weekends, or adjusted schedules as project needs require.
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and jobsite professionalism.
Preferred:
- Qualified rigger or signal person training/certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with industrial construction, equipment setting, structural steel, concrete, or mechanical installations.
- Forklift, aerial lift, skid steer, or other equipment experience.
- Knowledge of rigging hardware, sling types, load limits, lift planning, and hand signals.
- First Aid/CPR certification.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Rigging and Material Handling
- Assist with rigging, hoisting, and material movement activities under the direction of qualified supervision.
- Use appropriate rigging equipment, including slings, shackles, hooks, chokers, spreader bars, and related lifting devices.
- Verify rigging equipment is properly selected for the load, lift configuration, and work conditions.
- Confirm Safe Working Load Limits are clearly identified and not exceeded.
- Inspect rigging equipment before use and immediately remove defective or damaged equipment from service.
- Participate in pre-lift meetings and follow approved lift plans.
- Maintain clear communication with crane operators, equipment operators, signal persons, and crew members.
- Stay clear of suspended loads and maintain safe positioning during lifting operations.
- Assist with load control using taglines and other approved methods.
- Follow manufacturer instructions, applicable regulations, and project-specific lifting procedures.
General Labor Duties
- Perform general construction labor tasks as assigned by field supervision.
- Load, unload, move, stage, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
- Prepare work areas for crews, subcontractors, and equipment access.
- Maintain jobsite housekeeping, including debris removal, sweeping, organizing, and cleanup.
- Assist with temporary protection, barricades, signage, and site access controls.
- Support concrete, steel, equipment setting, demolition, excavation, and general construction activities as needed.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely and correctly.
- Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying materials are placed in designated areas.
- Support field crews with layout, staging, setup, and teardown activities.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all McGough safety policies, project safety plans, and site-specific requirements.
- Attend and participate in daily huddles, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and pre-task planning.
- Identify unsafe conditions and report them immediately to supervision.
- Use required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Maintain awareness of equipment swing radius, pinch points, overhead hazards, suspended loads, and changing jobsite conditions.
- Support a culture where safety, quality, and accountability are non-negotiable.
OFFICE AND TRAVEL
Position is in Wichita Falls, TX and may have occasional travel to regional office or headquarters.

The role also requires occasional visits to construction sites, where the employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
