The AV Apprentice is an entry-level installation role that does not require prior audiovisual (AV) or installation experience. This position is intended for individuals who are motivated to learn and develop hands-on skills within the AV and structured cabling industry, with a focus on commercial project environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery, setup, and installation of AV equipment, including audio, video, control systems, video conferencing equipment, equipment racks, and related furniture
- Run cabling through walls, ceilings, floors, and other building structures
- Load and organize equipment racks and furniture with AV components for wiring and installation
- Support the installation of displays, projectors, screens, lifts, speakers, and other mounted AV equipment on walls or ceilings
- Assist team members with testing cabling and system components
- Follow direction from lead technicians and supervisors to ensure proper installation within project timelines
- Perform other duties as assigned to support successful project completion
Work Environment
- Primarily works indoors in climate-controlled environments
- Occasional work in outdoor or non-climate-controlled areas such as warehouses, attics, or similar spaces
Physical Demands
- Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and motorized lifts at heights ranging from 6 to 30 feet, and occasionally higher
- Ability to work in multiple positions including standing, kneeling, sitting, and lying down
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to accurately distinguish wire and cable colors
