Work Location & Travel Expectations
This role supports projects across the United States and requires a high level of travel based on business and project needs. Candidates may be based anywhere within the U.S.; however, the selected individual should be prepared for assignments at various project locations nationwide. Travel for this position may reach up to approximately 90%.
Project assignments generally last 10 to 17 months, depending on project duration and operational requirements. While assigned to a project away from home, eligible employees are provided per diem to assist with temporary living and travel-related expenses, in addition to a competitive hourly rate.
Position Overview
The Communications/Low Voltage Electrician will support a major data center communications infrastructure project in Haskell, Texas. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience installing and maintaining structured cabling systems, fiber optic infrastructure, and communication pathways within mission-critical environments. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive on large-scale data center construction projects and are committed to delivering high-quality work while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, test, and certify structured cabling systems, including fiber optic backbone and Cat6A (or higher) horizontal cabling
- Install cable trays, ladder racks, pathways, and communication support infrastructure
- Read and interpret blueprints, rack elevations, and construction drawings to ensure accurate installation
- Perform fiber optic splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation as required
- Maintain proper cable labeling and documentation in accordance with project standards
- Follow TIA/BICSI standards and industry best practices for structured cabling installations
- Adhere to all project safety requirements and quality control procedures within mission-critical data center environments
- Support project documentation, inspections, and quality assurance processes
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, supervisors, and other trades to meet project schedules and deliverables
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structured cabling, fiber optic installation, pathway systems, or communications infrastructure construction
- Experience working on data centers, hyperscale facilities, colocation facilities, or other large-scale mission-critical projects is strongly preferred
- Strong experience with fiber optic backbone installation, Cat6A (or higher) horizontal cabling, cable tray and ladder rack installation, cable terminations, testing, and certification of communication systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, rack elevations, and construction drawings
- Working knowledge of TIA/BICSI standards and industry best practices for structured cabling installations
- Commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship in mission-critical environments
- Experience maintaining accurate cable labeling, documentation, and quality/safety records
- TDLR Journeyman Electrician License, TDLR Industrial Electrician License, NCCER Electrical Certification, or completion of a recognized electrical, low-voltage, or communications certification program is strongly preferred
- Must be based in the North Texas/Haskell area, able to reliably commute, or willing to travel for an extended project assignment (per diem available for qualifying travelers)

Compensation
- The hourly rate for this role is $42.00 per hour

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Perform physical movements such as bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing
- Safely navigate active construction sites, including uneven, confined, or cluttered work areas
- Work at elevated heights and comply with fall protection and safety requirements
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Work in environments with exposure to noise, dust, temperature extremes, and other construction-related conditions
- Interpret technical drawings and visualize three-dimensional concepts when needed
- Maintain sufficient vision, hearing, coordination, and awareness to safely perform job duties
- Ability to work extended shifts, including up to 12 hours, in outdoor construction environments and varying weather conditions
- Maintain physical stamina and strength to perform demanding job duties throughout the workday
