We are currently seeking an onsite Superintendent - Environmental to lead and oversee the environmental management practices and permitting compliance of our construction operations. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and contractual environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle while supporting The Wesson Group's commitment to excellence.
In addition to managing environmental compliance activities, the Superintendent - Environmental will oversee and direct field crews performing Best Management Practices (BMP) installation, maintenance, and environmental control work, ensuring environmental protection measures are implemented effectively and in accordance with project requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines environmental compliance oversight with field operations management on active construction sites.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Installation of BMPs while managing on-site workforce
- Coordinate with relevant crews on their work locations, material needs, quantities and invoices
- Oversee Subcontractor environmental compliance
- Identify wetland and sensitive environmental areas for protection and fencing in advance of construction activities
- Lead the environmental compliance and permitting for the onsite construction operations
- Identify, assess, and reduce environmental risks to the company
- Update environmental plans
- Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water quality, underwater noise, etc.)
- Maintain project data tracking requirements
- Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level
- Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels
- Function as a principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues
- Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings avoiding and minimizing adverse effects to the natural environment and local communities
- Prepare required reports and communication of environmental risks to project management
- Attend field visits with Client and regulatory agencies
- Liaise with the client providing them design information, schedule details, quantities etc. ensuring they are aware of any unanticipated discoveries, critical permitting and compliance issues
