Highpoint at Cape Coral is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to oversee all maintenance, building operations, life safety systems, and preventative maintenance programs within our beautiful senior living community.

What You'll Do

As the Director of Engineering, you will oversee all aspects of the community's physical plant and maintenance operations while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct all building maintenance, engineering, and life safety operations
  • Lead preventative maintenance and work order programs to ensure efficient daily operations
  • Inspect buildings, grounds, equipment, and common areas to identify repair and maintenance needs
  • Manage HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and other building systems
  • Oversee vendors, contractors, and maintenance service providers
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, life safety, fire, and regulatory requirements
  • Administer the community Risk Management Program
  • Plan and oversee maintenance projects while managing departmental budgets
  • Develop, implement, and maintain maintenance policies and procedures
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and develop the Engineering department team
  • Maintain emergency preparedness plans and respond to facility emergencies as needed
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible maintenance or engineering leadership experience
  • Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, apartments, hotels, or commercial facilities preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • HVAC systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Plumbing
    • Preventative maintenance programs
    • Building equipment and repair techniques
  • EPA Certification or the ability to obtain within six months of hire
  • Experience with fire alarm systems, emergency systems, phone systems, and life safety equipment
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs, reaching, kneeling, lifting, and carrying up to 25 pounds without assistance.
